One number here is a civics fact rather than an education one. Per-pupil spending is not set in the central office or by the Superintendent. The Superintendent proposes a budget, the elected School Committee holds a public hearing and approves it, and then Town Meeting appropriates the money in the same room, on the same night, as everything else the town buys. In 2026 that same electorate filled two of the five School Committee seats, and the two winners took them with 548 and 544 votes.
