About the Board
Chapter 3 of the Town of Oxford Charter opens with one sentence that decides a great deal: a board of selectmen of five members shall be elected at large for three year overlapping terms. Elected at large means every Oxford voter helps choose all five, so there is no ward or district to look up before you write. Overlapping terms mean a couple of seats are on the ballot every spring, which is why the board is never replaced all at once.
Section 3-2-1 vests all the executive powers of the town in this board except where the charter says otherwise, and section 3-2-2 lets it set town policy and the rules for town elections, with one limit worth remembering: if a policy needs money, the vote only takes effect once Town Meeting appropriates it.
- Appoints the Town Manager on a vote of at least three members, and can end that appointment.
- Appoints the Chief of Police and other police officers, three registrars of voters, election officers, and the five members and three associate members of the Zoning Board of Appeals.
- Controls the warrant, deciding what business reaches Town Meeting for a vote.
Board Members
All five members are elected at large. After each Annual Town Election the board reorganizes and elects its own officers in open session, as charter section 10-4-1 requires of every town board. At the reorganization of May 27, 2026, eight days after the annual election, the board took three separate votes, each carrying four in favour with the nominee abstaining: John Eul as Chairman, Russell Rheault as Vice Chairman, and Joshua Boyda as Secretary. Chairman Eul then declared the board reorganized and the members took their new seats.

Meetings & How to Participate
- When: the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m., in the Second Floor Meeting Room of Oxford Memorial Town Hall, 325 Main Street.
- Agendas & minutes: posted on the town's Agenda Center. Approved minutes carry the Town Clerk's received stamp, so you can see the date the record became official.
- Watch: Oxford Cable Access records town meetings and events, and carries board and committee meetings on Charter channel 192, with a live stream on the town's Cable Access page.
- Public comment: meetings are open and residents may address the board. Check the agenda for the procedure.
- Town Meeting: for the budget and the bylaws, the deciding vote belongs to the registered voters in the hall, which can include you.
