Community Organizations

A library that runs a history museum, a farmhouse where the founder of the Red Cross was born, and a society organised in 1881 that still owns the town's oldest story. Every organization on this page takes volunteers, and several of them are how a resident with no title at all ends up in the room.

Oxford Free Public Library	The town library at 339 Main Street, open six days a week, with a children's room, museum passes, a notary public, public computers and the Oxford History Museum. Director Brittany McDougal Bialy. 508-987-6003. Its three Trustees are one of the bodies Oxford voters elect directly, so this is a board you can run for.
Clara Barton Birthplace Museum	The farmhouse at 66 Clara Barton Road in North Oxford where Clara Barton was born in 1821, kept as a museum of her childhood home. 508-987-2056, ext. 2013.
The Huguenot Memorial Society of Oxford	A 501(c)(3) organised in 1881 to keep the record of the French Huguenots who settled here in 1686. It bought and held the fort site on Fort Hill Road and deeded it to the town in 1979, and it runs a research programme and an annual student essay contest. Based at 325 Main Street.
Oxford Cable Access	The town's own public, education and government access service, at 4 Maple Road. It records town meetings and events and carries them on Charter channels 191, 192 and 194, all three streaming live. It also teaches media production to residents and employees. 508-987-6038, ext. 1032.
Oxford Community Center	The town's recreation and program centre at 4 Maple Road, with youth, adult and senior programs, fitness classes, gym time and facility rentals. Director Shelley Lambert. 508-987-6002.
