High needs is a state count, not a score. It includes every student who is from a low income household, learning English, or receiving special education services, and counts each one only once. The median across all 395 Massachusetts districts is 46.6 percent.

Academic Performance & Context

Weston’s four-year graduation rate was 97.7%. MCAS results, graduation rates, and accountability data are published and updated each year by DESE. Because these change annually, this guide links to the live state profile rather than reprinting numbers that quickly go stale.

Two facts on this page are civics rather than education. The first is that per-pupil spending is not set in a school building or by the Superintendent. It is voted at Town Meeting, in the same room, on the same night, by the same registered voters who vote everything else, and on May 4, 2026 that room passed the town’s operating budget for the coming year 228 to 23 and approved the design and construction of new fire stations 204 to 72.

The second is METCO. Weston has taken part in the Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity since 1967, and about 167 students in grades K through 12 travel from Boston to Weston’s schools under it. That is close to sixty years of a program the district chose and keeps choosing, and it is part of why the enrollment numbers above look the way they do.
