Weston, Massachusetts
Weston Community Organizations
Two eighteenth century taverns kept open by volunteers, a working farm on town land, roughly ninety miles of trails maintained mostly by an association of residents, and a newsroom that covers your own town meetings. Every organization on this page takes volunteers, and several of them are how a resident with no title at all ends up in the room.
Community Organizations
| Organization | What they do |
|---|---|
| Land’s Sake | A community farm and land stewardship nonprofit that works land the town owns, which makes it a good example of how a town asset and a volunteer organization can share a job. |
| Weston Forest & Trail Association | Funds and maintains most of the roughly 90 miles of trails on the town’s conservation land, alongside the Conservation Commission that owns it. |
| Weston Historical Society | The private nonprofit that collects and preserves the town’s history. It is a separate thing from the town’s own Historical Commission, which is a public body. |
| Golden Ball Tavern Museum | A museum in the Georgian tavern Isaac Jones built on the post road in the 1760s. |
| Friends of Josiah Smith Tavern | Volunteer stewards of the 1757 tavern. |
| Weston Media Center | Community access media. It records the Select Board’s meetings, runs a community calendar, and teaches production, so it is one place a student can learn a skill and watch the town at the same time. |
| Weston Observer | An independent nonprofit local newsroom that publishes every Friday and is named on the town’s own Local Newspapers page. It reported the 2026 election results the day they were counted. |
| Weston Community League | A community service and education organization. |
| Weston Friendly Society of the Performing Arts | One of the oldest community theater societies, and open to residents who want to be on a stage or behind it. |
| League of Women Voters of Weston | Civic education and voter services. The town’s own Community Links page lists the local chapter, which runs candidate information and registration help around elections. |
