Weston Select Board
About the Board
The Select Board is elected town-wide, so every Weston voter helps choose all five, and members serve staggered three-year terms. There were three of them until this year, and the town changed that itself. In May 2025 Town Meeting authorized the board to ask the Legislature for two more seats. The Governor signed the special act on October 8, 2025. On January 13, 2026 the town’s voters ratified it 553 to 294, and the May 2, 2026 election then filled three seats at once: the top two vote getters took three-year terms and the third took a two-year term, which is how a board gets back onto a staggered cycle. The board appoints the Town Manager who runs the town day to day, appoints town counsel and the multimember committees under its jurisdiction, and signs the warrants that decide what Town Meeting gets to vote on.
- Sets policy and direction for the whole town.
- Hires the Town Manager under Chapter 80 of the Acts of 2001, and appoints the Police Chief, the Fire Chief, the Town Clerk and the Director of Public Works from the candidates the manager recommends.
- Controls the warrant, deciding what business reaches Town Meeting for a vote.
Board Members
All five members are elected town-wide. After each annual town election the board reorganizes in public and chooses its own officers. At the reorganization of May 12, 2026, ten days after the election, it voted twice by roll call and both votes were unanimous: John F. McDonald as Chair, and Alfred L. Aydelott as Clerk. Weston’s board publishes no Vice Chair, and its roster page and its minutes agree on that.

Meetings & How to Participate
- When: generally Tuesday evenings, in hybrid form. The town posts each agenda in advance, and the notice carries both the room at Weston Town Hall, 11 Town House Road, and the way to join remotely.
- Agendas & minutes: posted on the town’s Agenda Center at westonma.gov, and you can sign up for an alert when a new one goes up.
- Watch: meetings are recorded by Weston Media Center, the town’s community access station.
- Public comment: residents may address the board. Check the agenda for the procedure.
- Town Meeting: for the budget and bylaws, the deciding vote belongs to the registered voters in the hall, which can include you. The town sets out the whole arrangement on its Form of Government page.
What this seat decides
Your Select Board
Streets and sidewalks, licenses, a crosswalk or a speed limit, and how something gets onto the Town Meeting warrant. Ask the engineering department who owns the road before you write: a numbered state route is MassDOT's rather than your town's, and your State Representative is who can ask them. It runs the town day to day, or hires the Town Manager or Town Administrator who does, and new bylaws are voted by Town Meeting rather than by the board.
