Finding the Right Department

Most of what residents need from the town runs through a department, not an elected official: paying a bill, pulling a permit, reporting a problem, registering to vote. None of these department heads is on your ballot. Under charter section 5-1(b) the Town Manager appoints, removes and supervises every one of them, subject to the approval of the Select Board, which is why the Town Manager is the person the board holds responsible for all of them and the board is the body you can vote out.

The directory below covers the departments residents contact most, with the head the town names on its own staff directory. For the full list, hours, and staff, visit the town’s Departments page or its staff directory. Town Hall is at 10 Mudge Way, open Monday 8am to 7pm and Tuesday through Thursday 8am to 4pm.
