About the Board
Section 3-1 of Bedford’s charter gives this board a title most towns do not use in writing: five Select Board Members shall be the chief executive body of the Town. All five are elected town-wide to three-year terms on a staggered schedule, so a couple of seats are on the ballot every March and every voter in Bedford helps choose all five. The board sets policy, investigates the conduct of any town department and prints the report in the Annual Town Report, appoints the Town Manager who runs the town day to day, approves his appointment of every department head, and signs the warrant that decides what Town Meeting gets to vote on. When a daily problem becomes town policy, this is the room where it happens.
- Sets policy and conducts the affairs of the town that the General Laws, the bylaws and the charter do not give to somebody else.
- Hires the Town Manager, and it takes four of the five members to dismiss him.
- Controls the warrant, deciding what business reaches Town Meeting for a vote.
- Appoints fourteen bodies by name, from the Conservation Commission to the Registrars of Voters, under charter section 3-3.
Board Members
All five are elected town-wide. After each annual town election the board reorganizes and chooses its own officers. At the reorganization of March 23, 2026, nine days after the annual election, the board voted 5 to 0 twice: Daniel Brosgol as Chair and Terrence Parker as Clerk. Bedford’s board publishes no Vice Chair.

The town routes contact to board members through the Select Board office, which can be reached at 781-275-1111. The member roster and current terms are posted at bedfordma.gov.
Meetings & How to Participate
- When: Monday evenings, roughly twice a month, in the Select Board Room at Town Hall, 10 Mudge Way. The town posts each agenda in advance and publishes a full fiscal-year meeting calendar.
- Public comment: agendas typically open with it. You are encouraged, though not required, to sign up ahead by emailing SBcomment@bedfordma.gov or calling 781-275-1111 with your name, your contact information and the topic you want to raise. The Chair may set a limit per speaker and for the period overall.
- Agendas & minutes: posted on the town’s Agenda Center at bedfordma.gov. Minutes appear once the board approves them, which is usually two meetings later.
- Watch: the board streams its meetings on YouTube and links the stream from its own page.
- Town Meeting: for the budget and the bylaws, the deciding vote belongs to the registered voters in the hall, which can include you.
