Community Organizations
An archive that holds three towns’ history, a library board you can run for, and two newsrooms that sit through your town meetings so the record exists. Every organization on this page takes volunteers, and several of them are how a resident with no title at all ends up in the room.

| Dyer Memorial Library and Archives | An independent research library and archive for the history of Old Abington, the single town that until 1874 also contained Rockland and Whitman. | Abington Public Library | The town’s public library at 600 Gliniewicz Way, part of the Old Colony Library Network. Its nine Library Trustees are elected by the whole town, so this is a board you can run for. 781-982-2139. |
| Friends of the Abington Public Library | Volunteers who raise money for library programs, museum passes and equipment the town budget does not cover, and who welcome new members at any age. |
| ABINGTON NEWS | An all volunteer local news site covering town government, the schools and Green Wave sports, with candidate interviews before every town election. |
| South Shore News | A South Shore newsletter that reports Abington Select Board and Town Meeting sessions article by article, including the reorganization vote that seated the current board. |
| Abington Community Access Media | Records and posts the town’s public meetings, and produces local programming including the monthly Abington Veterans’ Muster on Comcast channel 6 and Verizon channel 28. Its archive is how you watch a meeting you could not attend. |
