Community Organizations

A striking number of Sharon’s independent organizations exist to look after land and history, which is what happens in a town that has spent decades voting to keep its open space. Every group below is listed by the town’s own Conservation Commission, and every one of them takes volunteers.

Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary (Mass Audubon)	Mass Audubon’s oldest and largest wildlife sanctuary, 2,250 acres of forest, fields and wetlands in Sharon, with hiking trails and a red maple swamp boardwalk.
Moose Hill Farm (The Trustees of Reservations)	Woodlands, hillside hay fields and pastures, with views toward Great Blue Hill and the Boston skyline.
Sharon Historical Society	Keeps the record of the town, from Stoughtonham onward, and published the revised edition of the town history in 2005.
Sharon Friends of Conservation	A resident group that works alongside the Conservation Commission on the town’s trails and open space.
Sustainable Sharon Coalition	Volunteers working on energy, waste and climate projects in town.
Love our Lake, Lake Massapoag	The campaign to protect Lake Massapoag, a 353 acre natural spring fed lake, run with the town’s Lake Massapoag Advisory Committee.
Sharon Public Library	The library’s own site, with its catalogue, its programs, and its digitized Sharon history collections, including the Deborah Sampson papers.

Sharon Adult Center & Council on Aging	Programs, outreach and transportation for older residents, in the former resort hotel the town bought in 1967. Director Kaitlyn Thibeault. 781-784-8000.
Sharon Public Library	Free programs, computers, and a card that works at libraries across Massachusetts, in a building that opened in 2025. Library Director Randy E. Gagne. 781-784-1578.
Recreation Department	Youth sports, summer programs, and the town’s parks, fields and Memorial Beach. Director Frank Livera. 781-784-1530.
Sharon Housing Authority	The town’s housing authority. One of its seats is elected town-wide, and it was on the 2026 ballot: Susan D. Saunders was elected to a five year term.
