Dr. Peter Botelho
About 3,401 students start their day in this district, and one person answers for all of it. Dr. Peter Botelho is Superintendent of the Sharon Public Schools, proposing the school budget, setting academic priorities, and running a system of six schools day to day. He works with two assistant superintendents, Dr. Joel Jocelyn for curriculum and instruction and Ellen Whittemore for administration and finance. The Superintendent is hired by and reports to the elected School Committee, which evaluates him. Sharon runs its own district rather than a regional one, so all seven committee seats are Sharon seats and every one of them is on a Sharon ballot.

The School Committee
The Sharon School Committee has seven members serving staggered three year terms, all elected town-wide. The committee sets district policy, approves the school budget, and hires and evaluates the Superintendent who runs the schools day to day. It typically meets on Wednesday evenings about twice a month, and the meetings are public, which means a Sharon student who shows up can speak. Two School Committee seats were on the ballot on May 19, 2026. Adam Shain took the first with 1,098 votes and Julie DeFalco Rowe the second with 1,096, ahead of Ryan Matthew Gard’s 947.
