Sharon Select Board

About the Board

The Select Board is elected town-wide, so every Sharon voter helps choose all five, and each serves a three year term on a staggered schedule that puts a seat or two on the ballot each spring. The board sets town policy, signs the warrants that decide what Town Meeting gets to vote on, appoints residents to many town boards, and hires and supervises the Town Administrator who runs the town day to day. When a daily problem becomes town policy, this is the room where it happens.

  • Sets policy and direction for the whole town.
  • Hires the Town Administrator and holds the Administrator accountable.
  • Controls the warrant, deciding what business reaches Town Meeting for a vote.

Board Members

All five members are elected town-wide. After each annual town election the board reorganizes and elects its own officers. At the reorganization on May 26, 2026 it voted 5 to 0 to make Xander Shapiro Chair, 5 to 0 to reappoint Hanna Switlekowski as Vice Chair, and 5 to 0 to make Pasqualino Pannone Clerk.

The Seat on the Ballot in 2026

One Select Board seat was up at the Annual Town Election on May 19, 2026, and it was contested. Hanna Switlekowski was re-elected with 1,662 votes to Andrew S. Goloboy’s 170. Across the whole ballot 1,923 Sharon voters turned out, and they filled eleven seats in nine separate races between them: a Select Board seat, the Moderator, the Town Clerk, two Assessor seats, two School Committee seats, a Planning Board seat, two Library Trustee seats and a Housing Authority seat. The closest race on the sheet, the second School Committee seat, came down to 151 votes.

Meetings & How to Participate

  • When: generally two Tuesdays a month at 7 pm, in the second floor meeting room at Town Hall, 90 South Main Street, or on Zoom. The town posts each agenda in advance.
  • Agendas & minutes: posted at sharonma.gov, with the approved minutes of past meetings kept alongside them.
  • Public comment: every meeting opens with a public comment period, and the minutes record what residents said in it.
  • Town Meeting: for the budget and bylaws, the deciding vote belongs to the registered voters in the hall, which can include you.

Public hearings and meetings are where residents shape town decisions.
