Rockland Legislators
Who Represents Rockland
Rockland sits whole inside every district that covers it, which makes this page unusually simple. One state representative, one state senator and one member of Congress speak for the entire town, and the Commonwealth’s two U.S. senators represent the whole state, Rockland included. Five names, no address to check first, and between them they reach everything from a state road project to a federal budget line for your school.
State Senator
Norfolk and Plymouth District · Democrat
John F. Keenan
State House: Room 413-F · (617) 722-1494
Email: john.keenan@masenate.gov
The Norfolk and Plymouth district runs from Quincy down through Braintree, Holbrook, Abington, Rockland and Hanover, so one senator carries the water, transit, housing and school funding questions of six communities at once. All of Rockland sits inside it, which means there is no district line to check before you write. Senator Keenan has served in the Senate since 2011 and sits on the Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government, which is the committee that handles the special acts and charter changes towns like Rockland depend on.
State Representative
All of Rockland lies in the 5th Plymouth House district, so there is one representative for the whole town and no need to look up your street first.
5th Plymouth District · Republican
David F. DeCoste
State House: Room 542 · (617) 722-2489
Email: david.decoste@mahouse.gov
A state representative files bills, votes the state budget, and can chase a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, which is often the fastest use of the office. Representative DeCoste has held the seat since 2015 and sits on the Joint Committees on Transportation, Housing, Public Service, Aging and Independence, and Racial Equity, Civil Rights, and Inclusion. His office takes calls from Rockland residents.
In Washington
All of Rockland sits in the 9th Congressional District, one of the largest in the state, running from the South Shore down through New Bedford and out across Cape Cod and the Islands. Massachusetts is represented in the U.S. Senate by Elizabeth Warren, the senior senator, and Edward J. Markey, the junior senator, both Democrats.
9th Congressional District · Democrat
William R. Keating
Washington: 2372 Rayburn House Office Building · 202-225-3111
