School Committee & Superintendent
The Superintendent
John Antonucci
About 3,769 North Attleborough students start their day in this district, and one person answers for all of it. John Antonucci has led North Attleborough Public Schools as Superintendent since July 2021. He came to town after running two other Massachusetts districts, first as superintendent in Duxbury and, for a dozen years before that, in Westwood, and he began his career as a high school teacher and assistant principal. He runs a system of eight schools, proposes the school budget, sets academic priorities, and answers to the elected School Committee. The Superintendent is hired by and reports to that committee, which in 2023 extended his contract through 2028.

The School Committee
North Attleborough’s School Committee has seven seats, all elected town-wide by North Attleborough voters. Because the town has no mayor, no one sits on the committee by virtue of another office: every member ran and won. In April 2025 the town elected its first female-majority School Committee. The committee chooses its own leaders, and as of 2026 the chair is Tasha Buzzell. It sets district policy, approves the school budget, and hires and evaluates the Superintendent who runs the schools day to day.

What this seat decides
Your schools
School Committee. Start times, the school calendar, bus routes and stops, the phone policy, athletics and activity fees, and anything in the student handbook. It sets district policy, and the total size of the school budget is voted by Town Meeting, or by your Mayor and Council in a city.
Your principal and your superintendent. The principal for how a school rule works day to day in your building. The superintendent for how the whole district runs. The School Committee hires exactly one employee, the superintendent, so a question about any other staff member goes to the district, not to the board.
Curious how a bill becomes law, or how students can take on a civics project?
