About 1,616 students start their day in this district, and one person answers for all of it. Gregory B. Myers leads Millbury Public Schools from the central office at 12 Martin Street, proposing the school budget, setting academic priorities, and running three schools day to day. Under charter Section 3-3(b) the Superintendent is selected and can be terminated by the elected School Committee, and nobody else. Note what that means for the money: the school budget is the one large piece of town spending the Town Manager does not build. Article 6 has the School Committee publish a summary of its own proposed budget in a local newspaper at least seven days before it votes, hold a public hearing, take the final vote no sooner than its next regular meeting, and then send the result to the Town Manager to fold into the town budget. Then the same Town Meeting that votes everything else votes that too.

The School Committee
The Millbury School Committee has five members, all elected town-wide to staggered three year terms under charter Section 3-3(a). Millbury is a single-town district, so all five answer to Millbury voters and nobody else. The committee sets district policy, approves the school budget, and selects and evaluates the Superintendent. It reorganizes after each annual town election, and on May 14, 2026 it voted 4 to 0 twice: Christopher Wilbur as Chairperson and Jessica Bristol as Vice Chairperson. Meetings are held in the evening during the school year and they are public, which means a Millbury student who shows up can speak.
