Community Organizations
A historical society that runs a museum, a library the town’s voters paid for at the ballot box, the volunteers who fund what its budget does not, and the newsroom that reports the meetings. Every one of them takes volunteers, and several are how a resident with no title at all ends up in the room.

| Richard Salter Storrs Library | The town’s public library, at 693 Longmeadow Street, and a town department: Library Director Jean Maziarz, 413-565-4181. Its additions and renovations were paid for by a $2,000,000 debt exclusion the town’s voters approved on June 6, 1989, which is a good reminder that a library building is a thing a town chooses. |
| Friends of Storrs Library | The library’s independent volunteer support group. It funds programming, events and collections that the town budget does not cover, and it takes members. |

| Longmeadow Food Pantry | Run out of the Adult Center at 211 Maple Road, with distribution on Thursdays from 2pm to 4pm. The town says plainly that the pantry is open to all in need and that you do not have to be a senior to use it. 413-565-4150, extension 6. |
