A Portrait of Longmeadow
Longmeadow covers 9.1 square miles of Hampden County, about 1,744 people to the square mile, which makes it one of the more tightly settled towns in western Massachusetts. The numbers describe a town that is older, wealthier and far more owner-occupied than the Commonwealth as a whole. More than nine homes in ten are lived in by their owners, which is unusually high anywhere in the state. Massachusetts publishes voter-registration counts by town through the Secretary of the Commonwealth. As in most of the state, Longmeadow’s largest bloc by far is voters who choose no party at all, which is worth knowing before anyone tells you how this town votes.

On June 2, 2026, 1,284 residents cast a ballot, and that ballot filled a Select Board seat, three School Committee seats and a Planning Board seat, and settled a borrowing question worth a town wide fiber network.
