Whitman Select Board
About the Board
The Select Board is elected town-wide, so every Whitman voter helps choose all five, and each serves a three-year term on a staggered schedule that puts a seat or two on the ballot each May. The board sets town policy, signs the warrants that decide what Town Meeting gets to vote on, appoints residents to many town boards, and hires and supervises the Town Administrator who runs the town day to day. When a daily problem becomes town policy, this is the room where it happens.

Board Members
All five members are elected town-wide. After each annual town election the board reorganizes and chooses its own officers, and that is a separate vote from the election itself. Three days after the May 16, 2026 ballot, the board met on May 19 and elected Justin Evans as Chair, Daniel L. Salvucci as Vice Chair, and Shawn Kain as Clerk. The same election seated two new members, Dawn Byers and Christina Gorman.

Meetings & How to Participate
- When: about twice a month, usually on Tuesday evenings, at Whitman Town Hall, 54 South Avenue. The town posts each agenda in advance.
- Agendas & minutes: posted on the town’s Agenda Center at whitman-ma.gov, with the approved minutes of past meetings alongside them.
- Public forum: Whitman Select Board meetings open with a public forum, and residents are recorded by name in the approved minutes. Check the agenda for the procedure.
- Town Meeting: for the budget and bylaws, the deciding vote belongs to the registered voters in the hall, which can include you. Town Meeting is chaired not by the Select Board but by the Town Moderator, Michael G. Seele, whom the voters elect separately.
