Westport, Massachusetts

Community Organizations

Three independent organizations do a striking amount of Westport’s long-range work: one holds the land, one watches the river, and one keeps the record. Every one of them takes volunteers, and none of them requires you to be old enough to vote.

Non-Profit Organizations

Organization What they do & contact
Westport Land Conservation Trust A 501(c)(3) land trust that preserves and stewards open space in Westport. It owns and manages Westport Woods Conservation Park, the 82 acre former St. Vincent de Paul camp at 573 Adamsville Road, and it runs volunteer days and public programmes there.
Westport River Watershed Alliance In its own words, an environmental non-profit working to protect and restore the Westport River through science, education and community engagement. It monitors water quality, runs school programmes and a summer Watershed Discovery programme, and is based at 493 Old County Road.
Westport Historical Society Works to engage the public in exploring the town’s history and culture. It is headquartered in the Bell School at 25 Drift Road and keeps oral histories, walking tours, an online collections database and an exhibition on Paul Cuffe.
