Westport is the only community the 8th Bristol district holds whole; the other four are shared with neighbouring districts. Ouellette took office in 2025 after decades of local service, including eight terms as a Westport selectman, so the person who carries this town’s business to the State House has sat on the board this guide describes. A state representative files bills, votes the state budget, and can chase a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, which is often the fastest use of the office.

All of Westport sits in the 9th Congressional District, one of the largest in the state, running from New Bedford and the South Coast out across Cape Cod and the Islands.
