The School Committee

The Westford School Committee has seven members, all elected town-wide to staggered three-year terms. Westford is a single-town district, so all seven answer to Westford voters and nobody else. The committee sets district policy, approves the school budget, and hires and evaluates the Superintendent. It publishes its own officers, and Westford’s second seat is titled Co-Chair rather than Vice Chair. Meetings are generally held every other Monday evening during the school year at 7pm, in Conference Room B at the Millennium School on Depot Street, and they are public, which means a Westford student who shows up can speak.

Meetings & Participation

• When: generally every other Monday evening at 7pm during the school year, in Conference Room B at the Millennium School, 23 Depot Street.
• Public comment: the committee welcomes community members to speak on matters within its purview, with speakers limited to two minutes so more people get a turn.
• Watch: meetings are carried live and on demand by WestfordCAT, and broadcast on Comcast channel 9 and Verizon channel 34.
• Agendas: posted to the town’s Agenda Center at least 48 hours before each meeting, and you can sign up for email or text alerts when one is posted or changed.
