Town Government
Scituate School Committee & Superintendent
The Superintendent
Thomas Raab, Ed.D.
About 2,726 students start their day in this district, and one person answers for all of it. Thomas Raab leads Scituate Public Schools, proposing the school budget, setting academic priorities, and running a system of six schools day to day. The Superintendent is hired by and reports to the elected School Committee, which carries out an annual evaluation. Scituate runs its own district rather than sharing one, so the committee that hires the Superintendent answers to a single town, and it is your town.

The School Committee
Scituate’s School Committee has five members, all elected town-wide to staggered three-year terms. The committee sets district policy, approves the school budget, and hires and evaluates the Superintendent who runs the schools day to day. It generally meets twice a month on Monday evenings at 6:00pm in the Scituate High School Library, in person and on Zoom, and the meetings are public, which means a Scituate student who shows up can speak. The committee can be reached as a body at schoolcommittee@scit.org.
