City Government
Revere City Council
Revere’s City Council has eleven members: five elected city-wide (“at-large”) and six from neighborhood wards. The Council is the city’s legislative branch, it makes local law while the Mayor runs the executive branch. Councillors choose one of their own as President to lead meetings, and the Council currently serves two-year terms.
- Sets policy and law by adopting ordinances and resolutions.
- Controls the purse by adopting the city’s annual budget.
- Provides oversight of the Mayor’s administration, departments, and spending.
Council Members
Council President Anthony T. Zambuto (At-Large) leads the Council; Ward 5 Councillor Angela Guarino-Sawaya serves as Vice President. The five at-large councillors are elected by all Revere voters; the six ward councillors each represent one neighborhood ward.
