Town Government
Norwood Board of Selectmen
About the Board
In a town with no mayor, these five people are the closest thing to one. The Board of Selectmen is elected town-wide, so every Norwood voter helps choose all five, and each serves a three-year term on a staggered schedule that puts a couple of seats on the ballot each spring. The board sets town policy, grants the licenses that decide who can open a restaurant or serve alcohol, appoints residents to many town boards, and hires and supervises the General Manager who runs the town day-to-day. It cannot spend money on its own, though: that power belongs to Town Meeting. When a daily problem becomes town policy, this is the room where it happens.
- Sets policy and direction for the whole town.
- Hires the General Manager and holds the manager accountable.
- Grants licenses and appoints residents to boards and commissions.
Board Members
All five members are elected town-wide. The board chooses one of its own as Chairman to run its meetings and another as Vice Chairman. The current roster was set after the April 2026 town election, which seated Cheryl L. Doyle as a new member and returned Michael Saad.
