Who Represents Nahant

All of Nahant sits in a single state representative district and a single state senate district, so there is no address to check: the same names speak for the whole town. One state representative and one state senator carry Nahant on Beacon Hill, one member of Congress carries it in the U.S. House, and the Commonwealth’s two U.S. senators represent the entire state, Nahant included. Five names on this page, and between them they cover everything from a beach bylaw to a federal coastal rule.

State Senator

The Third Essex district gathers Nahant with its North Shore neighbors, Lynn, Lynnfield, Marblehead, Saugus and Swampscott, so one senator carries the coastal, housing, transit and school funding questions of the whole cluster. All of Nahant sits inside it, which means there is no district line to check before you write.

State Representative

All of Nahant sits in one House district, the 11th Essex, so a single representative speaks for the entire town. That makes the office easy to reach: there is only one name to know.

A state representative files bills, votes the state budget, and can chase a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, which is often the fastest use of the office. This office takes calls from Nahant residents.

In Washington

All of Nahant sits in the 6th Congressional District, which runs along the North Shore from Cape Ann into the northern Boston suburbs. Massachusetts is represented in the U.S. Senate by Elizabeth Warren, the senior senator, and Edward J. Markey, the junior senator, both Democrats.
