Nahant Board of Selectmen
About the Board
The Board of Selectmen is elected town-wide, so every Nahant voter helps choose all three, and each serves a three-year term on a staggered schedule that puts one seat on the ballot each spring. The board sets town policy, signs the warrants that decide what Town Meeting gets to vote on, appoints residents to many town boards, and hires and supervises the Town Administrator who runs the town day to day. When a daily problem becomes town policy, this is the room where it happens. At the April 25, 2026 annual town election Nahant voters also approved a ballot question to rename the board the Select Board, 386 to 155, so you may see both names in use.

- Controls the warrant, deciding what business reaches Town Meeting for a vote.
Board Members
All three members are elected town-wide. The board chooses its own officers, and the town’s own roster lists Robert Tibbo as Chairman, Patrick O’Reilly as Vice Chairman, and Patty Karras as Recording Secretary. Karras was re-elected to the board at the April 2026 annual town election.

Meetings & How to Participate
- When: the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm at Nahant Town Hall, 334 Nahant Road. The town posts each agenda in advance.
- Agendas & minutes: posted in advance on the town website at nahant.org.
- Public comment: residents may address the board. Check the agenda for the procedure.
- Town Meeting: for the budget and bylaws, the deciding vote belongs to the registered voters in the hall, which can include you.
