Community Organizations
Monterey and the wider South Berkshires are served by a small network of organizations that keep the town’s history, run its library, and report its news. These are the most established, and every one of them takes volunteers.

| Bidwell House Museum | A 1750s Georgian house on Art School Road, once the town’s parsonage, now a museum on roughly 192 acres with trails open to the public. It runs tours, talks, and programs on the town’s early history. |
| Monterey Library | The town’s public library on Main Road: books, programs, computers, and a card that works at libraries across Massachusetts. |
| The Monterey News | The town’s own local monthly community newspaper, carrying town notices, meeting coverage, and neighborhood news. |

| Council on Aging | Runs out of the Monterey Community Center: meals, transportation, and programs for older residents. Reach it through Town Hall at 413-528-1443. |
| Parks Commission | Care of the town park, the Lake Garfield beach, and recreation, run by a volunteer commission. Members are appointed by the Select Board. |
| Lake Garfield Working Group | A town committee that works on the health of Lake Garfield, the pond at the center of town, from water quality to invasive weeds. |
