Middleborough Select Board
About the Board
The Select Board is elected town-wide, so every Middleborough voter helps choose all five, and charter section 2 gives each a three-year term on a staggered schedule that puts one or two seats on the ballot every spring. Two were on the April 2026 ballot. This board appoints the Town Manager who runs the town day to day, and the charter also hands it a long list of appointments by name, from the Chief of Police to the Town Clerk to the nine Library Trustees. Sections 2 and 3 go further and seat the five of them as the Board of Health, the Water Commissioners, the sewer commissioners, the surveyors of highways and the rent board. When a daily problem becomes town policy, this is usually the room where it happens.
- Sets policy and direction for the whole town.
- Hires the Town Manager under charter section 18, and can remove the manager for cause under section 21.
- Controls the warrant, deciding what business reaches Town Meeting for a vote.
- Wears several other hats, because the charter abolished the elected Water Commissioners, Board of Health and Auditors in 1920 and moved their powers onto this board.
Board Members
All five members are elected town-wide. After each annual town election the board reorganizes and chooses its own officers, and the Town Manager opens the floor for the nominations. At the reorganization on April 6, 2026, two days after the annual election, the board elected Teresa Kelly Farley as Chair and Thomas S. White as Vice Chair, each by unanimous roll call vote.

Meetings & How to Participate
- When: Monday nights at Middleborough Town Hall, 10 Nickerson Avenue, in the Select Board Meeting Room. The board votes and posts its own schedule, including a separate summer schedule, and the town posts each agenda in advance.
- Agendas & minutes: posted on the town’s Agenda Center at middleboroughma.gov, and you can sign up for an alert when a new one goes up.
- Watch: meetings are recorded by MCCAM for broadcast on Comcast and Verizon, and streamed and archived at mccam.tv.
- Get on the agenda: requests go to the Select Board’s office in writing, with all the supporting material, by noon on the Wednesday before the meeting.
- Town Meeting: for the budget and bylaws, the deciding vote belongs to the registered voters in the hall, which can include you.
