Town Departments
Finding the Right Department
Most of what residents need from the town runs through a department, not an elected official: paying a bill, pulling a permit, reporting a problem, registering to vote. Most departments report to the Select Board through the Town Administrator, and under Charter Article 3-2 it is the Select Board that appoints the department heads. Two run differently: the schools answer to the elected School Committee, and Public Works answers to an elected Board of Public Works.
The directory below covers the departments residents contact most. For the full list, hours, and staff, visit marshfield-ma.gov. Town Hall is at 870 Moraine Street.
