Who Represents Leyden

All of Leyden sits in one state senate district, one congressional district, and one state house district, so unlike some towns there is no line to check inside town before you write. There is one wrinkle worth knowing right now: Leyden’s seat in the state House of Representatives is vacant, so at the moment no representative speaks for the town in that chamber until the next election fills the seat. Your senator, your member of Congress, and the Commonwealth’s two U.S. senators are all in place.

State Senator

The Hampshire, Franklin and Worcester district gathers a wide stretch of the Pioneer Valley and the hill towns around it, Leyden included, so one senator carries the school funding, broadband, and rural transportation questions of a whole region. All of Leyden sits inside it, which means there is no district line to check before you write.

State Representative

Leyden belongs to the 1st Franklin House district. That seat is currently vacant: the previous representative resigned in early 2026, so no member of the House speaks for Leyden until voters fill it at the state election on November 3, 2026. No special election is scheduled, and the winner takes office on January 6, 2027. When the seat is filled, the new representative files bills, votes the state budget, and can chase a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, which is often the fastest use of the office. Until then, the fastest route for a state matter is your state senator’s office.

In Washington

All of Leyden sits in the 2nd Congressional District, which runs across central and western Massachusetts. Massachusetts is represented in the U.S. Senate by Elizabeth Warren, the senior senator, and Edward J. Markey, the junior senator, both Democrats.
