Context
Lawrence serves a student body with very high needs: a large majority of students are economically disadvantaged, and a substantial share are English learners. The district has been in state receivership since 2011, and in January 2026 the state shifted to an individual receiver, Dr. Lauren Woo, while preparing the elected School Committee for an eventual return to local control.
