About the Council
The Lawrence City Council has nine members — three elected at-large (citywide) and six elected by district (Districts A through F). The council is the city’s legislative branch, working alongside the mayor to govern Lawrence. For the current term, Jeovanny Rodriguez serves as Council President and Ana Levy as Vice President.
- Makes local law: adopts ordinances and orders that govern the city.
- Controls the budget: reviews and adopts the mayor’s proposed budget and appropriations.
- Checks the executive: can override a mayoral veto.
- Represents residents: district councilors are your direct line to City Hall.
Council Members

- Agendas: meeting agendas and the schedule are posted on the city’s City Council page.
- Public comment: residents may address the council during the public participation portion of meetings.
