Who Represents Hawley

The whole town sits in a single state representative district, a single state senate district, and a single congressional district, so there is no district line to check before you write. Right now the state House seat is vacant, so between the Senate, the U.S. House, and the Commonwealth’s two U.S. senators, four names carry Hawley’s voice, and between them they cover everything from a town road grant to a federal tax bill.

State Senator

Paul Mark’s senate district is a sprawling one, gathering dozens of hill towns and small cities across Berkshire, Hampden, Franklin, and Hampshire counties, Hawley among them. A state senator files bills, votes the state budget, and can press a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, and his office takes calls from every town in the district.

State Representative

1st Franklin District · Seat Vacant

Currently Vacant

The 1st Franklin House seat became vacant when Representative Natalie Blais resigned in January 2026, and it is filled at the next election.

Hawley’s seat in the state House of Representatives is part of the 1st Franklin district. That seat is currently vacant, so no representative speaks for the town in the House until the next election fills it. A state representative files bills, votes the state budget, and can chase a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, which is often the fastest use of the office, and once the seat is filled that person’s district office will take calls from Hawley residents.

In Washington

All of Hawley sits in the 1st Congressional District, which covers most of western Massachusetts, from the Berkshires through Springfield. Hawley is one of only three Mohawk Trail towns in the 1st District, alongside Charlemont and Plainfield. Massachusetts is represented in the U.S. Senate by Elizabeth Warren, the senior senator, and Edward J. Markey, the junior senator, both Democrats.
