Who Represents Erving

All of Erving sits in one state senate district and one state representative district, so you do not have to check your address to know who speaks for you at the State House. One member of Congress covers the whole town, and the Commonwealth’s two U.S. senators represent the entire state, Erving included. Five names, and between them they reach everything from a state road grant to a federal river cleanup.

State Delegation

The Hampshire, Franklin and Worcester senate district reaches across three counties, so one senator carries the rural school funding, farm, broadband and river questions of a very large piece of western Massachusetts. Erving’s representative sits in the House as an Independent, which is unusual enough to be worth knowing: she caucuses with neither party and votes seat by seat. A state representative files bills, votes the state budget, and can chase a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, and that last one is often the fastest use of the office for an ordinary resident.

Federal Delegation

All of Erving sits in the 2nd Congressional District, represented by James P. McGovern. Massachusetts is represented in the U.S. Senate by Elizabeth Warren and Edward J. Markey, both Democrats, who serve the entire state.

Contact details for the delegation come from the Massachusetts Legislature’s and Congress’s own member records, joined by member code.
