Who Represents Douglas
The whole of Douglas sits in one state representative district and one state senate district, so unlike some of its neighbors there is no line to check inside town: the same five people speak for every address here. One state representative and one state senator carry the town on Beacon Hill, one member of Congress carries it in the U.S. House, and the Commonwealth’s two U.S. senators represent the entire state, Douglas included. Between them they cover everything from a local road project to a federal farm bill.

The Worcester and Hampden district reaches across the southern edge of the state, from the Blackstone Valley towns like Douglas west toward the Connecticut line, so one senator carries the road, housing, and school funding questions of a whole string of small towns. All of Douglas sits inside it, which means there is no district line to check before you write.
State Representative
All of Douglas sits in the 18th Worcester House district, so one representative speaks for the entire town on Beacon Hill.

A state representative files bills, votes the state budget, and can chase a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, which is often the fastest use of the office. This office takes calls from Douglas residents.

All of Douglas sits in the 2nd Congressional District, which stretches across central Massachusetts from Worcester out to the Berkshire foothills. Massachusetts is represented in the U.S. Senate by Elizabeth Warren, the senior senator, and Edward J. Markey, the junior senator, both Democrats.
