School Committee & Superintendent
The Superintendent
Dr. Jill Geiser
There are 4,433 students in Belmont Public Schools, and one person answers for all of them. Dr. Jill Geiser has led the district since July 2023, when she arrived from neighboring Billerica, where she was assistant superintendent. She proposes the school budget, sets academic priorities, and runs a system of seven schools day to day. The Superintendent is hired by and reports to the elected School Committee, which evaluates her work. In March 2026 the committee voted unanimously to give her a second contract, running through 2030.

The School Committee
Belmont’s School Committee has six members, all elected town-wide. The committee sets district policy, approves the school budget, and hires and evaluates the Superintendent who runs the schools day to day. It meets at the School Administration Building at 644 Pleasant Street, and the meetings are public, which means a Belmont student who shows up can speak.
