Who Represents Adams

Adams is not split anywhere, which makes this simpler than it is for a lot of Massachusetts towns. One state representative, one state senator and one member of Congress speak for the entire town, so the person who answers for your street is the same person who answers for every other street in Adams. The Commonwealth’s two U.S. senators represent the whole state, Adams included. Four names, and they cover everything from a state road bylaw to a federal budget.

State Senator

Senator Mark’s district stretches across four counties of western Massachusetts, so the same senator who votes on your school funding also speaks for a wide run of small hilltowns. Adams sits in the district whole, so there is no precinct line to check before you write to him.

State Representative

All of Adams sits in the 1st Berkshire House district, in the northern Berkshires. One representative speaks for the whole town.

A state representative files bills, votes the state budget, and can chase a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, which is often the fastest use of the office. His district office and his State House office both take calls from Adams residents.

In Washington

All of Adams sits in the 1st Congressional District, which covers western Massachusetts. Massachusetts is represented in the U.S. Senate by Elizabeth Warren, the senior senator, and Edward J. Markey, the junior senator, both Democrats.
