High needs is a state count, not a score. It includes every student who is from a low income household, learning English, or receiving special education services, and counts each one only once. The median across all 395 Massachusetts districts is 46.6 percent.

One figure here is worth reading twice. More than a quarter of Acton-Boxborough students speak a first language that is not English, which is well above the state as a whole and is one of the plainest things the data says about who your classmates are.
Academic Performance & Context
Acton-Boxborough’s four-year graduation rate was 94.4%, against 89.3% for Massachusetts as a whole. MCAS results, graduation rates, and accountability data are published and updated each year by DESE. Because these change annually, this guide links to the live state profile rather than reprinting numbers that quickly go stale.
One number here is a civics fact rather than an education one. Per-pupil spending is not set by the Superintendent and it is not set in any one building. It arrives through a regional district, which means two towns rather than one: the budget goes from the Superintendent to an eleven member School Committee that Acton and Boxborough voters elect between them, and the money then has to clear the Annual Town Meeting floor. Acton voters elect seven of those eleven seats. So the shortest route a student has to the school budget is not a school building at all. It is a Town Meeting in May and a School Committee meeting you can attend any month of the year.
