Vito Perrone
About 110 students start their day at the Anne T. Dunphy School, and one person answers for the district that runs it. Vito Perrone is the Superintendent, hired by and reporting to the elected School Committee, which carries out his annual evaluation. He proposes the school budget, sets academic priorities, and runs the district day to day. Williamsburg shares his office with its neighbors: Perrone leads the Hampshire group of districts, which pools a single central office for Williamsburg, the Hampshire Regional district, and the towns of Chesterfield, Goshen, Southampton and Westhampton. That is why Williamsburg families see the same Superintendent from the elementary years through high school, even though the town runs its own PreK to grade 6 district and joins the regional district for grades 7 to 12.

The School Committee
The Williamsburg School Committee has five members, all elected town-wide to staggered three-year terms. The committee sets policy for the town’s own Anne T. Dunphy School, approves its budget, and helps hire and evaluate the Superintendent. Its meetings are public, which means a Williamsburg student who shows up can speak. For grades 7 to 12 the town also elects a seat on the separate Hampshire Regional School Committee.
