West Boylston School Committee & Superintendent

The Superintendent

Daniel Riley, Ed.D.

About 903 students start their day in this district, and one person answers for all of it. Daniel Riley, Ed.D. leads the West Boylston Public Schools, proposing the school budget, setting academic priorities, and running the district’s two schools day to day. The Superintendent is hired by and reports to the elected School Committee, which carries out an annual evaluation. West Boylston runs its own single-town district, so unlike many of its neighbors it does not share a superintendent or a committee with any other town: the five people who hire and evaluate this superintendent are all elected by West Boylston voters.

The School Committee

The West Boylston School Committee has five members, elected town-wide to staggered three-year terms. The committee sets district policy, approves the school budget, and hires and evaluates the Superintendent who runs the schools day to day. It meets on the second Wednesday of the month at the Middle/High School Media Center, and the meetings are public, which means a West Boylston student who shows up can speak.
