Community Organizations

In a town of 1,832 the community organizations are not a garnish on civic life, they are load-bearing: protecting eight thousand acres of wildlife land, running the library and the senior center, and putting on the programs that keep a small town connected. Every one of them takes volunteers.

Non-Profit Organizations

Norcross Wildlife Foundation	The private conservation foundation headquartered in Wales that runs the Norcross Wildlife Sanctuary, roughly eight thousand acres of preserved land off Peck Road, with public trails, education programs, and a native plant collection.
Friends of Wales groups and town committees	Volunteer committees, from the Local Cultural Council to the Historical Commission and the Recreation Committee, carry much of the town’s community programming. Openings are posted through the town office.

Wales Public Library	Books, programs, computers, and a card that works at libraries across Massachusetts. Library Director Kara L. Jund. 413-245-9072. Its trustees are elected on the town ballot.
Recreation and Cultural committees	The town committees for youth programs, the fields, and grants for the arts and humanities.
