A library you can be elected to run, a food pantry staffed entirely by volunteers, a television station that carries your own town meetings, and a national park that runs through the middle of town. Every one of them takes volunteers.

Uxbridge Free Public Library The town’s public library at 15 North Main Street, open Mondays and Thursdays 10 am to 8 pm, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10 am to 5:30 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 2 pm. Director Christopher Powloka, (508) 278-8624. Its six Library Trustees are elected town-wide, so this is a board you can run for.
People First Food Pantry of Uxbridge An all volunteer food pantry at 19 Douglas Street, 508-278-5506, in its own words ensuring that nutritious food is available to everyone in our community.
Uxbridge Community Television UCTV, the town’s community access station. It carries Select Board, School Committee and Town Meeting sessions live and on demand, which is how most residents watch a vote they cannot attend in person.
New Uxbridge Times A monthly hometown paper mailed to homes across Uxbridge, Northbridge, Whitinsville, Douglas, Sutton, Manchaug and Millbury.
Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park The National Park Service unit that runs through Uxbridge and tells the story of the valley’s mills, its canal and its river.

Council on Aging The Uxbridge Senior Center at 36 South Main Street, open Monday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm: outreach, transportation, meals and wellness. Director Lisa Bernard, (508) 278-8622.
Pout Pond The town’s own swimming and recreation area, run by an appointed committee that sells season passes and is looking for volunteers to join it.
Open Space Committee The committee that keeps Uxbridge’s open space and recreation plan, in a town whose landscape includes the Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park, West Hill Dam and the Southern New England Trunkline Trail.
Veterans’ Services Benefits, claims and services for Uxbridge veterans and their families. Director Carl Bradshaw, 508-278-8600.
Talent Bank Form One form, and it is the door onto any of the town’s thirty six boards and committees.
