Sutton, Massachusetts
Sutton Community Organizations
Local history, a public library, protected open space, and the papers that cover your own town. Several of the organizations on this page take volunteers, and a few of them are how a resident with no title at all ends up making a difference.
Community Organizations
| Organization | What they do |
|---|---|
| Sutton Free Public Library | The town’s public library. Its Board of Library Trustees is one of the bodies Sutton voters elect directly under the charter, so this is a board you can run for. |
| Sutton Historical Society | Keeps and shares the town’s history, from the 1737 Edward Putnam House on the town seal to the mills of the Blackstone valley. It takes volunteers. |
| Purgatory Chasm State Reservation | A granite-walled chasm off Purgatory Road, run by the state Department of Conservation and Recreation. Free to walk, and one of the best-known natural places in Sutton. |
| The Yankee Xpress | A regional weekly in the Blackstone Valley that covers Sutton’s town news, its boards, and its schools. |
| The Sutton High News | The Sutton High School student newspaper, written and edited by students who cover the schools, the district and the town. |
