Who Represents Rockport

All of Rockport sits in one state representative district and one state senate district, so unlike some of its neighbors, every address in town shares the same delegation. One member of Congress covers the whole town, and the Commonwealth’s two U.S. senators represent the entire state, Rockport included. Five names in all, and between them they cover everything from a beach bylaw to a federal fisheries rule.

State Senator

The First Essex and Middlesex district reaches along the North Shore from Cape Ann up toward the New Hampshire line, so one senator carries the fishing, coastal, housing and school-funding questions of a whole stretch of coast. All of Rockport sits inside it, which means there is no district line to check before you write. Bruce Tarr has held the seat since 2009 and leads the Senate’s Republican caucus.

State Representative

Rockport’s whole vote for the House goes to one person. Dru Tarr won a 2026 special election to the 5th Essex seat, and a state representative files bills, votes the state budget, and can chase a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, which is often the fastest use of the office.

In Washington

All of Rockport sits in the 6th Congressional District, which runs across Essex County and the North Shore. Massachusetts is represented in the U.S. Senate by Elizabeth Warren, the senior senator, and Edward J. Markey, the junior senator, both Democrats.
