Rockport Boards & Commissions

What Boards & Commissions Are

Beyond the Select Board and the School Committee, much of Rockport’s governing happens on volunteer boards and commissions. They review new development, hear zoning appeals, protect the town’s wetlands and its granite coastline, weigh in on historic places, and steer the money the town set aside for open space and historic preservation. They are the rooms where an ordinary resident can have the most direct hand in a decision.

The meetings are public, and seats open up regularly.

  • Board of Health oversees inspections, permits, and public health rules.
  • Community Preservation Act Committee recommends how the town’s 3 percent CPA surcharge is spent on open space, historic preservation, and housing.
