Pittsfield Demographics

A Portrait of Pittsfield

Pittsfield is the largest city in the Berkshires and the seat of Berkshire County, and it carries the shape of a city that was once much bigger. Roughly one in five residents is 65 or older, a reminder of the jobs that left when General Electric pulled out. The city is mostly white, about 80 percent, but its Latino and Black communities have grown, now near 9 and 5 percent. Figures below come from the U.S. Census Bureau and the Secretary of the Commonwealth. Follow the source links for the latest.
