Who Represents Oakham
The whole town sits in a single state representative district, a single state senate district, and a single congressional district, so there is no district line to check before you write. One representative, one senator, and one member of Congress speak for every Oakham address, and the Commonwealth’s two U.S. senators represent the entire state, Oakham included. Five names, and between them they cover everything from a town road grant to a federal farm bill.
State Senator
Worcester and Hampshire District · Republican
Peter Durant
State House: Room 520 · (617) 722-1540
Email: peter.durant@masenate.gov
The Worcester and Hampshire district reaches across central Massachusetts, from Gardner and part of Worcester through the Brookfields to Oakham, Ware, and Rutland. Senator Durant serves as Assistant Minority Leader in the Senate, won a 2023 special election after more than a decade in the House, and sits on the Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government, among others.
State Representative
5th Worcester District · Republican
Donnie Berthiaume
State House: Room 548 · (617) 722-2488
Email: donald.berthiaume@mahouse.gov
A state representative files bills, votes the state budget, and can chase a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, which is often the fastest use of the office. Representative Berthiaume, a former Spencer selectman, is the ranking minority member of the Joint Committee on Cannabis Policy, and his office takes calls from Oakham residents.
