Who Represents Montague

Montague is not split anywhere, which makes this simpler than it is for a lot of Massachusetts towns. One state senator and one member of Congress speak for the entire town, and the town’s seat in the state House is vacant right now, waiting to be filled at the November 2026 election. The Commonwealth’s two U.S. senators represent the whole state, Montague included. When the House seat is filled, four elected people will cover everything from a town bylaw to a federal farm rule.

State Senator

Senator Comerford represents a large rural district across western Massachusetts, so the same senator who votes on your school funding also carries the concerns of dozens of small towns like Montague. The town sits in the district whole, so there is no precinct line to check before you write to her.

State Representative

Montague sits in the 1st Franklin House district, and that seat is vacant right now. Until voters fill it at the November 2026 election, no representative speaks for the town in the state House. When the seat is filled, one representative will cover all of Montague, and this page will name that person.

A state representative files bills, votes the state budget, and can chase a state agency on a constituent’s behalf, which is often the fastest use of the office. Even with the seat open, your state senator and your member of Congress can still take a constituent problem to a state or federal agency.

In Washington

All of Montague sits in the 2nd Congressional District, which runs from Worcester west across Franklin County. Its representative is James P. McGovern. Massachusetts is represented in the U.S. Senate by Elizabeth Warren, the senior senator, and Edward J. Markey, the junior senator, both Democrats.
