Community Organizations

Marion and its tri-town neighbors, Mattapoisett and Rochester, are served by a close network of nonprofits that keep the town’s history, arts, library and coastline going. Most of them run on volunteers, and every one of them can use a hand.

Elizabeth Taber Library	Marion’s public library at 8 Spring Street, an independent association library founded by the town benefactor Elizabeth Taber, with youth and adult programs, museum passes and a makerspace.
Sippican Historical Society	Preserves the history of Marion, the old village of Sippican, and runs a museum at 141 Front Street displaying the town’s artifacts, documents and artwork.
Marion Art Center	A nonprofit arts center at 80 Pleasant Street offering theater productions, gallery exhibitions, music and classes for children and adults.
Buzzards Bay Coalition	A regional membership nonprofit working to protect and restore the health of Buzzards Bay and its watershed, including Marion’s Sippican Harbor and shoreline.
Sippican Woman’s Club	A community club that owns the historic Handy’s Tavern at 152 Front Street and supports local scholarships and civic programs.
