Community Organizations

A newsroom that sits through your town meeting, a station that broadcasts it, a food pantry, a library and a historical society. Every organization on this page takes volunteers, and several of them are how a resident with no title at all ends up in the room.

Organization	What they do & contact
The Landmark	The weekly newspaper covering Holden and the Wachusett towns. Its reporters sit through the meetings: the Town Clerk’s own Annual Town Meeting minutes record a Landmark reporter in attendance, by name, alongside the department heads.
Holden Community Television	HCTV describes itself as a public forum for all Holden residents and non-profit organizations, and it provides the training and the access to the equipment. It carries town meetings and Wachusett Regional School District Committee meetings. Main Street, Holden, 508-829-6185.
Holden Historical Society	Founded in 1967 and a registered 501(c)(3), its stated mission is to collect, preserve, exhibit and interpret the documents and artifacts of Holden’s history. It is a volunteer organization and membership is open to individuals, businesses and community organizations.
Wachusett Food Pantry	A non-profit, non-denominational, volunteer organization founded in January 1995 after a needs assessment of the Wachusett area. It runs a free monthly emergency food program, and the town’s Senior Center publishes its information.
Gale Free Library	Holden’s public library, at 23 Highland Street, 508-210-5560. Its Trustees of Damon Memorial are one of the bodies Holden voters elect directly, so this is a board you can run for.

Help at H.O.M.E.	Holden Outreach Managing Emergencies, the town’s own emergency assistance programme, run through Senior Services. (508) 210-5570.
